About the Jar Cap with Vacuum Release Closure Tab…
Who this product appeals to:
Those who don't want to struggle with opening a vacuum sealed jar
Older people with decreased grip strength
Someone with arthritis
Young children
Someone with a hand or wrist injury having comprised strength
IVRT has developed a vacuum release closure that consists of an adhesive coated
closure tab affixed to the surface of the jar lid. The tab may overhang the edge
of the jar slightly, creating an area that the consumer can grab to pull the
tab back with. This releases the vacuum seal, making the jar lid easy to open.
It is important to note that safety is never comprised with the enclosure
tab. Some manufacturers incorporate a "safety button" in the design of their
lids. When purchased, the jar sold with the enclosure tab will still maintain
the indented safety button until the tab is pulled and the vacuum seal is released.
With increased longevity and the graying of the Baby Boomer generation, the market is ripe for just such a concept. IVRT is currently looking for food manufacturers that would like to incorporate
the vacuum release closure in their manufacturing process or
jar and lid manufacturers looking to do the same. We are willing
to consider any and all options from manufacturers who see the
value in this invention and the wide reaching marketplace such
an innovation can target.
Some options for the vacuum release tab:
Tab can be constructed in a variety of shapes and sizes - circular, oval, elliptical, square, rectangular
Tab may be incorporated into different designs (e.g. pull tab may be on the top of the jar lid, run down the side of the lid, can run down the side of the
jar, etc.)
Style can vary according to the manufacturer's needs - tab may overhang jar,
have a non-adhesive lift area, etc.
Tab may be designed in colors to match the lid décor or in a complementary or contrasting pattern pleasing to the consumer's eye
Tab may be translucent to permit the manufacturer's jar design to show through tab
Manufacturer information may be printed on the tab - for example, tag lines
Information regarding the tab may be printed such as how the tab works, why it is there or just a slogan such as "sealed for the ultimate in freshness", etc.
Coupons may be printed on the tab that can be removed and redeemed on the consumer's next purchase
